Am I missing something here?
Almost everybody who claims to believe that 9/11 was a conspiracy involving the U.S. government is coming out supporting Ron Paul, and his statement during the debate that, "They attacked us because we've been bombing them for 10 years," or whatever he said. I've even seen some of the most adamant CTers claim that finally Ron Paul told the truth about why 9/11 happened!
How can anybody support Ron Paul for cementing into the public's mind that "THEY" attacked us on 9/11? Worse yet, his statement is linking Iraq to the 9/11 attacks, which justifies the Bush decision to go to war in Iraq.
I am truly puzzled by this. Let's not forget that Ron Paul is a congressman from Texas. Does anybody really believe that a politician from Texas would be able to survive politically in Washington D.C., let alone Texas, if he were truly anti-Bush and anti-War? I don't think so.
Perhaps Paul's main purpose is to be nothing more than a sparring partner for the Republican front-runners to beat-up on in front of a national audience. Rudy Guliani certainly didn't pass up the opportunity to grab the spotlight after Ron Paul gave him the opening he needed.
What's more interesting about Ron Paul is what he believes his own purpose is in the Presidential campaign. Surely he realizes he can never get the Republican nomination for President with a platform of bashing the U.S. So what is his motivation? Is he going to be another Republican that decides to change parties after losing the election? Is he lobbying for some sort of leadership position in the newly controlled Democratic Congress?
Whatver the case, it seems a bit hypocritical for people who believe 9/11 was a government conspiracy to praise Ron Paul as somebody who is finally telling the truth about 9/11.
